Distance learning

Chalk the Sun offers personalised distance learning packages for home study with full phone, email and Skype support from one of our professional writers. You’ll receive original materials suited to your learning requirements and individual feedback on your work. We are also happy to arrange a one-to-one session if you are in London or Malaga.

You can choose to do home study based on your own work-in-progress or a beginners course to experiment with different topics and forms and gain the necessary skills to develop your own writing. We also offer: Short Story Boot Camp, Stage and Screen or Writing Children’s Books.

Distance-learners are part of the Chalk the Sun community, and will be kept ‘in the loop’ about our class-based courses, reading and social events in case you happened to be in town and wanted to pay us a visit.

DISTANCE LEARNING FEES

All courses are £350 for tuition and materials for six modules.

INTENSIVE MENTORING

Writers engaged on novel and script projects can opt for an intensive personalised mentoring package based around their project. These individualised development packages include written feedback, editing, style and story analysis by email, Skype/Zoom/phone plus 121 tutorials.

We ask writers to submit an outline/step treatment or synopsis plus a 1,000 word extract for initial evaluation of your needs to decide how to proceed. This costs £50 for which you receive notes, an initial assessment to help you choose what would be best for you and your work; if appropriate, package option start at £300 .
